Training with Wilkins Kennedy

We're looking for people with enquiring, lively minds and a strong sense of commitment. In return we offer an excellent training programme and career opportunities.

ACA/ACCA training: you will need:

  • Minimum 24 UCAS points (If you are using the new UCAS tariff scores, you will need a minimum of 300 points)
  • Minimum 2:1 degree or expected result
  • A-C grades at GCSE and A Level
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to handle responsibility
  • Ambition

AAT training (school leavers): you will need:

  • Aptitude for detailed work, not necessarily with formal qualifications
  • Flexible, friendly attitude
  • To be conscientious

AAT training provides an excellent grounding for your future business career. If you are conscientious and enjoy learning, we'll give you every support and encouragement. Most of our successful AAT trainees go on to take further examinations for ACA qualifications, which is a great indication of success.

Training programme

We use a leading firm of accountancy tutors to help you prepare for and pass your examinations. The exam study method we have found to be the most effective is a combination of a home study programme and study leave to attend courses spread throughout the duration of your three year training contract. Just as importantly, you need to have experience of working and learning on a variety of assignments with different clients.

We will help you to get the right mix, and we'll expect you to take responsibility for projects and people as soon as you're ready. In addition, you'll acquire strong I.T, communication and management skills.

Career progression

On qualification, you may wish to specialise in areas such as taxation, corporate finance or insolvency or to follow a more generalist route. The choice is yours. Many of our partners started with us as trainees and now run their own client portfolios. In addition, trainees qualifying with us are often offered opportunities working with our clients. Whichever direction you choose to go in, you will have a qualification and a bank of experience that will provide an excellent grounding for your future.
