Dia Tuncer from Wilkins Kennedy Hertford Office returns to ICAEW Women in Accountancy Event Panel

Dia Tuncer, from Wilkins Kennedy Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, was invited as a panelist for the second year running at the ICAEW Women in Accountancy event, held on the 22nd November 2010 at the Chartered Accountants Hall in London.

The unique one-day event is held annually by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to give female undergraduates an insight into the accountancy profession, and this year over 70 delegates attended the event from universities across the UK.

Female undergraduates were given an introduction to a career as a chartered accountant and a number of skills sessions were delivered by UK employers throughout the day, including an assertiveness skills workshop, interview techniques and creating a personal brand image.

In the afternoon the undergraduates had the opportunity to participate in a business game based on a real ICAEW case study, culminating in a presentation to a panel of judges.  Prizes were awarded to the winning team following an assessment of presentation skills, teamwork and analytical approach.

The day ended with a Q & A session, offering the delegates the opportunity to consult with Dia and other successful female ACAs in business with varying levels of experience in the sector.

Dia Tuncer, Accounts Senior at Wilkins Kennedy, says, “This event offers a unique and practical insight into female career progression in our industry and I was delighted to be invited back to participate as a panellist for the second year running. I was impressed with the calibre of the attendees and specifically their presentations for the business game. The panel answered a wide range of questions about careers in chartered accountancy and the ICAEW qualification, and it was incredible to see and hear the enthusiasm for our profession from all who attended.”
