Wilkins Kennedy accountants complete National Three Peaks challenge for Aspire charity

On 6th June 2010, two accountants from Wilkins Kennedy Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers and their friends took part in the National Three Peaks Challenge, successfully climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within the space of 24 hours, to raise money for spinal injury charity Aspire.

Dan Garside, a Partner and Audit and Accounts specialist from the Wilkins Kennedy Southend office heard about the opportunity last year through a family member who had previously completed the challenge, and was swiftly joined by Neil Robins, a case manager from the WK Restructuring and Recovery arm in the London office.

After nearly six months of regular training, including walking, running cycling and the gym, Dan and Neil conquered all three peaks: Ben Nevis (1344m) Snowdon (1085m) and Scafell Pike (978m).

The team of ten friends raised over £3,500 in total for national charity Aspire, part of the firm’s broader annual target of £25,000, which will go towards funding a new Aspire adapted house in Islington.

Dan Garside, Partner at Wilkins Kennedy’s Southend office, says, “The three peaks event was a tough challenge for the team, but we had fantastic weather and enjoyed taking part in such a rewarding experience. We would like to thank all our friends and colleagues for their support and the team is proud to have raised over £3,500 for Aspire.”

Neil Robins, from WK Restructuring and Recovery in the London office, says, ”Funds raised will be put towards our company target of funding an Aspire adapted house, a vital service that will help to improve lives of people affected by spinal injury now and in years to come.”
