Wilkins Kennedy Staff at Reading and Egham Offices Raises £2,000 for Big Issue Foundation on Big Night Out Winter Walk 2009
On Friday 20th November, a team of ten staff and friends from Wilkins Kennedy Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers took to the streets of London for the first ever Big Night Out Winter Walk, an 18-mile overnight charity walk to raise money for the Big Issue Foundation.
The idea to participate in the walk originally came from Karen Harrison, Bankruptcy Manager at the Reading office, who saw the charity appeal in the Big Issue magazine during the summer and was quickly joined by several colleagues from the Wilkins Kennedy Reading and Egham offices.
The 18- mile walk around London began at Waterloo Bridge at 10.30pm and ended at 5.30am, taking the team all over London and finishing back at Waterloo, with a total of four scheduled stops on route.
Karen Harrison, Bankruptcy Manager (Reading) says,“ We really enjoyed ourselves and were exhausted by the end, but also very pleased to have raised over £2,000 for the Big Issue Foundation which we hope will help change people’s lives for the better.”
“The Big Issue stories I have read and the wide range of clients I deal with on a daily basis prove that people from all walks of life can be deeply affected by a sudden change in circumstances. I decided I needed to help fundraise after reading so many tragic stories of individuals and families affected by these tough economic times.”
