Taxes

Businesses can be liable for a range of taxes, but there are also a range of credits that businesses may be eligible to receive. Because of this, it is important to get professional advice or educate yourself on what tax implications your business faces. No one wants to pay too much in taxes! To understand what taxes you may be liable for, check out the business section of the HMRC website.

Business owners will have to deal with a range of taxes and tax issues. This increases if your business has employees. If your business is selling goods or services, you may be liable to charge and remit VAT; find out if this is the case.

If your business has employees, depending on the number of employees, it may make sense to hire an accounting or payroll firm to manage your payroll. Such a service will make automatic payroll payments for you, deducting income tax, National Insurance contributions and adding benefits, such as pension payments.

As an employer, you may also want to consider offering payroll giving to your employees. This allows employees to make charitable donations directly through their payroll and thus benefit from tax deductions. More information about this scheme can be found here.
