Many schools are now forming MATs, joining existing MATs or expanding their existing MATs. Although the EFA produces a Financial Handbook on an annual basis as well as the Accounts Direction (in relation to the statutory accounts) there is no guidance on how to set up the finances within a MAT. This has resulted in MAT accounts becoming a nightmare for many MATs and with many not set up to take advantage of the efficiencies of being a MAT.
With so many changes to the status of schools, reporting to the EFA, not to mention the financial pressures on trusts this workshop is designed to look at ways to ease the pressure and turn nightmares into pleasant dreams!
The workshop is relevant to all those working within existing MATs or looking to set-up/join a MAT in the future. Areas that will be covered will include:
- Ideas of streamlining/improving efficiencies.
- How to reduce costs across the MAT.
- Financial control across numerous schools.
- Specific accounting issues.
- MAT reporting within a MAT.
- Budgeting and management accounting within a MAT.
We will be joined by a guest speaker, a chief Financial Officer, from a local MAT who will share their experiences, pains and successes.
