This webinar will bring together some of our specialist charity advisors from across the UK to help support your charity through the temporary lockdown period and beyond.

Speakers and Topics

Our experts from across the Group will cover...

Should I spend my free reserves?

  • Many charities will currently be facing either a decline in income or an increased demand for their services and therefore an increase in expenditure. This session will explore what good management of reserves might look like at the moment and how a charity can try to balance the needs of those they are serving with the need to protect the charity in the long term and enable the trustees to fulfil their responsibilities.

Tax tips for charities

  • Changes to activities and finances can affect the tax position of charities. COVID measures have resulted in a lot of change and this has affected reporting, finances and will produce different outcomes. This session will highlight some of the charity tax issues we have experienced over the last 3 months. It will cover all taxes and include, tax repayments, reducing the cost of irrecoverable VAT, increasing the recovery of VAT, fundraising activities, new activities and refunds.

Restrictions, reserves and risks

  • In times of crisis charities need to kick into survive mode, information is one of the keys to survival, it is also an essential tool to move into the revival stage. Those organisations that don’t have complete visibility on their income and reserves may find themselves risking a breach of trust in relation to restricted funds. This session will cover the impact of restrictions on income, reserves, liquidity and the potential for exposing Trustees to a breach of trust. We will also look at measures you can consider to deal effectively with restricted balances.
