A leading accountancy firm in Hertford has handed over a cheque for £925.22 to Isabel Hospice following a string of successful fundraisers.

The main event was a Christmas raffle, where staff and Partners at accountancy firm, Wilkins Kennedy, purchased tickets to be in with a chance of winning a number of goodies, varying from a hotel stay to cinema tickets. The Christmas raffle is the pinnacle of the festive fundraising calendar and last year it was held in aid of Help for Heroes. This year, it was decided that Isabel Hospice would receive the money raised from the raffle, totalling £505 alone.

The rest of the money was raised through a number of other events, organised by staff and held following the raffle with all proceeds going to the charity. There was a Christmas message tree, a wine and chocolate raffle, a Christmas tree decorating competition and a bake sale of homemade cakes and biscuits.

Isabel Hospice is Wilkins Kennedy Hertford’s chosen charity, which provides specialist palliative care for adults living across eastern Hertfordshire with life limiting illnesses. The cheque was handed over to Megan Sparrey, who is Challenge Events Coordinator for Isabel Hospice, at Wilkins Kennedy’s Hertford office on 23rd January 2017.

Megan commented: “All our care is free, but our running costs are currently £4.5 million, of which £2.8 million must be raised from charitable sources. Donations from companies such as Wilkins Kennedy are so important to us and we would like to thank everyone at their Hertford office for all their kind efforts. A donation of this size would pay for running our Family Support Service for a day. We know the diagnosis of a life-limiting and terminal diagnosis does not just affect the person diagnosed, but also their loved ones and our team of specialists are able to support them pre and post bereavement.”

Tim Croft, Managing Partner for Wilkins Kennedy’s Hertford office, said: “We wanted to show our appreciation to the charity and all the hard work that they do. All events were so well-supported by staff and we had great fun organising and running each one. It was a pleasure to be able to hand over a cheque for a considerable sum of money.”
