Accountants raise £610 for Southampton charity

An accountancy firm has handed over a charity cheque to Wessex Heartbeat, following a year of fundraising.

Wilkins Kennedy’s Portsmouth and Southampton offices, which act for a number of businesses in the area, raised £610 during 2017 in aid of Wessex Heartbeat – a charity that work with people who are living with heart conditions.

Wessex Heartbeat was Wilkins Kennedy’s chosen charity for the Portsmouth and Southampton offices in 2017. Staff and partners were subsequently involved in a number of “dress down” fundraisers which took place throughout the year. The firm has also offered support at other local events and launches being held locally by the charity, who celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2017.

Bruce Elkins, Partner at Wilkins Kennedy’s Portsmouth and Southampton office, said: “We are really pleased with the amount raised. It’s great to see everyone at the office get so involved with fundraising and Wessex Heartbeat organised a great calendar of events through the course of their anniversary year. . We have been working closely with the charity for a number of years and see the fantastic work they do locally. We are delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause.”

Ken Wilde, Commercial Manager at Wessex Heartbeat, said: “Since our foundation in 1992, we have successfully raised more than £16 million. The funds were allocated to crucial improvement projects in the Wessex Cardiac Centre, that wouldn’t have otherwise happened. In 25 years, the Cardiac Centre has treated more than 40,000 people with heart conditions every year including around 7,000 children. We are extremely grateful that Wilkins Kennedy has agreed to sponsor Wessex Heartbeat. We look forward to the opportunity of growing our relationship even further with them in the future.”
