Top 20 accountancy firm, Wilkins Kennedy, has appointed Gina Bartlett to further develop a specialist division in Newbury.
Gina, who joins Wilkins Kennedy following 15 years’ experience in practice, has spent many years working alongside her father and Wilkins Kennedy colleague, Terry Boothby, managing bloodstock and equine portfolios. Her appointment comes following an increased demand for these services in a sector that has experienced tremendous growth at Wilkins Kennedy’s Newbury office.
Gina will support the strategic aspects and delivery of specialist agri-business services across the region, alongside fellow colleague and sector specialist, Bob Fidler. She will also be working closely with Terry Boothby who has worked with the bloodstock industry throughout his professional career spanning over 35 years. Together they will manage the increasingly expanding portfolio they have developed.
Gina’s clients include trainers, stud farms, owners, livery yards and associated equine businesses, but she has also worked with competition yards and eventers. As a keen horsewoman herself and former semi-professional eventer, Gina also brings plenty of personal experience with her to the role. She will be helping clients prepare, review and manage company accounts, assist with management accounts and advise clients on tax planning matters.
Commenting on her recent appointment, Gina said: “I am delighted to be joining the Newbury office team at Wilkins Kennedy and I am also thrilled to be able to incorporate my passion for horses into my profession. Bloodstock and equine industries are complex, particularly in relation to taxation. Due to the varied nature of the industry, it is important that a specialist can advise clients on tax governance and the latest reliefs available.”
Chris Duggan, Partner at Wilkins Kennedy’s Newbury office, said: “Thanks to a growing need for bloodstock and equine services at the firm, we are pleased to welcome Gina to the team. Newbury is historically linked to its prestigious race course, so it is the ideal setting for offering specialist services like Gina’s. Her skills and experience will be invaluable and I look forward to working alongside her.”
